Introducing Kristine Strange! Based in Tacoma, Kristine is a co-owner of Harmony Graphic & Web Design LLC in Tacoma, WA, USA. She has partnered with her best friend & website/graphic design genius! She contributes her love of current technology trends, researches current SEO & digital marketing trends, and has a passion to support small business's success. She also loves networking with fellow SEO & Web Developers in order to swap tips and refer clients who need to step their website to the next level of successful ROI.

We asked her everything from how she first got into SEO to what empowers her to be the brilliant woman she is 💪🏽

How did you get into SEO?

I learned SEO out of necessity. Building a Web Design business with an amazing website designer allowed me to focus on the other essential elements of website needs. My main focuses are SEO, digital marketing, and learning constantly about web accessibility. I focus on the fundamental SEO concepts that any small business can incorporate in its organic reach strategy.

What is your favourite SEO task?

Competitor research is by far my favorite SEO task! I love analyzing what's working and what's not regarding their web design and SEO strategy.

What is your go-to tool or resource that you can't live without?

Google tools are where it's at. I use keyword planner, analytics & search console regularly. For a quick competitive analysis, I use Ubersuggest as it provides a quick glance at possible keywords that are working for them. The ultimate best tool is Google SERPS. It's free and provides current search trends.

What is something you learned in SEO that made you have an 'AHA' moment?

The main AHA moment when learning SEO is the fact that we are spoon-fed the search results. I keep a sharp eye on what I use as a valid source of information versus a wonderfully optimized site.

What is your proudest industry achievement?

We have potential clients find us on Google! Our Google My Business strategy is working!

What advice would you give women who are starting out in SEO?

Dive in and focus on one part at a time. You cannot do all SEO options at once. Learn one thing well and then move on to the next and so on. I would encourage you to focus on Local SEO first since that provides value for the majority of clients and then move to Accessibility (that needs to be a constant learning) and then onto more technical SEO solutions.

Give a shout out to a woman in the industry who inspires you and tell us why

Barb Davids! We connected because of the Women in Tech SEO Mentorship Program and I'm so glad that I have met her. She is a tremendous help and a wonderful friend. We connect on a regular basis, even after the mentor program was finished.

Thank you to Areej AbuAli for having the best SEO group ever! The camaraderie, the support, the ability to ask any question and get a helpful response has been my lifesaver. This group is amazing! Thank you for creating this safe place for such amazing women.

Lea Scudamore (SEO at Aimclear) and Carolyn Holzman (Owner of American Way Media) are such smart women who have graciously supported me in the world of accessibility.

Finally, what empowers you to be the brilliant woman you are?

There is so much positivity to add to this world. I want to help small businesses succeed while having the time to raise my boys to be successful. It's a contagious goal.
